IHOPEE’s Widow’s program strives to enable widows so that they are able to take care of themselves and their families without depending on handouts.
We have an increasing number of widows as a result of HIV/AID and other illnesses. Most of these ladies depended on their late spouses for a living. We have managed to assist these ladies to make use of available materials to make items for sale. A good example is the Kakola women group. They make beautiful mats and baskets from banana bark for sale.
We try to assist them to get buyers all over the country. Thus, they’re able to take care of themselves and their families without depending on handouts.
We also encourage other ladies who are not widows to do the same. Our little girls are watching and we believe they will learn a thing or two from these ladies and be empowered as well.
